Bests of 2018

Here's this year's Top 10 list. It's different from last year's in that it is movies only- no television here. And I also listed movies I missed this year, which far outweighs what I saw. I need to do a better job of getting to the cinema in 2019. Here we go!

10 ANNIHILATION Fee people saw this, and the studio gave up on it. But it's brilliant

9 GAME NIGHT I don't see many comedies, but this one is very, very good. Clever and funny

8 THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD Peter Jackson's WWI documentary is spell binding. What an achievement

7 MISSION IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT For one of the best franchises ever, this may be the best installment

6 CRAZY RICH ASIANS See note on #9. Not the most original film on the list, but hilarious 

5 PADDINGTON 2 The sweetest movie of the year

4 A STAR IS BORN Major Oscar contender, but not for Best Picture

3 SPIDERMAN: INTO THE SPIDERVERSE I saw this three times in two weeks. That's STAR WARS level commitment. That's all you need to know

2 WON'T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR The film we needed in 2018. Any other year and it's #1

1 BLACK PANTHER You did it, Marvel! This will win Best Picture and Best Director at a minimum. It screened in January and held the top spot all year
