Dabbing Santa

12-16

(Christy really likes this one because she thinks Santa is dabbing.)
My District Superintendent Rev Todd Harris gave me a prayer journal recently. Advent is about spiritual growth, and journaling is a good practice. Maybe you have one lying around as well, and we can write and reflect together.
I started taking an online spiritual check-in course called SOUL RESET, based on the book by Rev Junius Dotson. One session invited reflection over seven questions.
Question #3
Jesus invited us to line freely and lightly with him each day. Did you feel light and free today? If yes, what was it like to walk unburdened through the day? If no, what is needed to accept Jesus' invitation to a light and free kind of living? Listen to God in the silence of your heart about what is keeping you from freedom.
May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you : wherever he may send you;
may he guide you through the wilderness : protect you through the storm;
may he bring you home rejoicing : at the wonders he has shown you;
may he bring you home rejoicing : once again into our doors.

I love the simple happiness of this angel snowman. Stars adorn his front, surround where he stands, and a star is even a halo. The caption on the base says, "Follow your star." The star we follow is love.

Question #4
Reflect in your ability to give and receive love today. Was love easy or difficult to give away? Was love easy or difficult to receive? Look for God in these moments of giving and receiving love today, and ask God to teach you more about God's generous way of loving.

Ok I chose this snow globe because the bear is holding a broom and it's consistent with the questions of the day. Winter/Advent is as  good a time as Spring to do some spiritual cleaning!

Question #5
Rehearse the day in your mind, pausing at each moment of gratitude to give thanks. Invite God to reset your heart, to clear away the clutter of guilt, harsh words, words left unsaid, actions taken or left undone. Let God's Grace wash over the desolation and guide you to a place of consolation where you can always begin again.
