Soul Reset

 12-14

My District Superintendent Rev Todd Harris gave me a prayer journal recently. This will be added to a collection of 5 or 6, all of which have this in common: they are about 90% blank pages! Still, Advent is about spiritual growth, and journaling is as good a practice as any, so let's try again. Maybe you have one or more lying around as well, and we can write and reflect together.

I started taking an online spiritual check-in course called SOUL RESET, based on the book by Rev Junius Dotson. One session invited reflection over seven questions; we'll use these as prompts during the final two weeks of Advent. Plus, it's a great way to get me thru several Santa snowglobes- they're not as easy as nativity scenes!

Santa has his journal and pen ready to go. Remember, these are reflection questions, and the day is only beginning. So we have options: write about the previous day, or come back to the post at the end of the day.

Question #1

What brought you the most joy today? When did you feel lost connected to God? Did you feel sad today? Be reminded that you are loved and held in grace.

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you : wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness : protect you through the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing : at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing : once again into our doors.

Question #2

If you could relive a moment from today, which would it be? Where was God in the wonderful moment? What did you experience or discover about the love and grace of God today?

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you : wherever he may send you;

may he guide you through the wilderness : protect you through the storm;

may he bring you home rejoicing : at the wonders he has shown you;

may he bring you home rejoicing : once again into our doors.
